The term zero waste refers to the amount of materials you send to landfill. When we say ‘zero waste’ we are referring to the net amount of waste associated with a product that does not go to landfill. For example a soap bar packaged in a cardboard box (which is 100% recyclable) is classified as zero waste. The bar will be used until it reduces into nothing and the packaging is widely recycled.
Yes, we wholeheartedly believe so and the switch to zero waste products has been a fascinating and rewarding journey. There is no denying the sense of satisfaction and clear conscience that comes with stripping plastic out of your life but it isn't always straight forward. All our products achieve the same end result as their plastic coated equivalents but they are often quite different experiences. The toothpaste without foaming agent has a very different mouth feel and the deodorant requires rubbing in with your fingers. Our products are beautiful, natural alternatives and we hope you enjoy them, and your journey to zero waste as much as we have!
We are constantly working to strike the balance between sustainable and functional. Packaging has been stripped back to the bare essentials without compromising quality or product safety. Boxes are made from recycled cardboard, interior packaging is recyclable and we use an ink stamp for branding.
In 2017 11.3% of all online purchases were returned. They were worth approximately £270 billion and generated more than 2 million kilos of landfill waste. With that in mind, we offer refunds or returns by exception only on a case-by-case basis.
If you have a plastic free or zero waste brand we would love to hear from you. We want to do everything we can to make the zero waste life style as convenient and accessible as possible. Please send information to firstname.lastname@example.org.
